Purple Coco's Baby-Pad

Time passed and do not wait for us whenever we want ours to slow down. The Year 2013 is coming to an end and soon Year 2014 will be knocking at our door. The same goes to the growth of my grand children. It seems like yesterday that I heard little feet running around and hearing lots of crying and groaning. Well, I do not hear so much of that now. :)

I am just sheer proud to see my eldest grandson turning 10 years old in May, grand daughter turned 9 years old in August and the youngest turned 7 years old in December this year. My affection and endlessly doting on them is tremendous and at every single minute of the day, they are in my heart and soul. I can never stop bragging about them to any willing ears! Come this Jan 2014 its back to school again and Nigel will be in Primary 5, Nicole in Primary 4 and Trevor in Primary 2.

Year 2013 has been a wonderful and blessed year and I hope and pray for the new year to be blessed with God's blessings of good health, happiness and lots of love. 

Nigel turned 6 years old yesterday (20th May). The first thing I did after saying my morning prayer was kissed his forehead and whispered “Happy Birthday Little Turtle”. I gazed at him and his “baby-face” is still there though he has grown to be a young boy. Oh! How I wish I didn’t have to wake him up from his beautiful sleep, however it’s schooling day so I gently nudged him to wake up. When his lazy eyes opened, I loudly sang “Happy Birthday” and that helped him to sit up and crawled down from bed. My singing also woke up his sister, Nicole who blankly asked if it’s her birthday too. “Yours will be in August, Little Princess”, said I. She doesn’t look happy with the reply however she nodded showing that she agree, unwillingly! Kids will always be kids, if you know what I mean.

His mother called from Kota Kinabalu to also wished him the same. His father woke up early and gave him a HUGE hug and BIG kiss and wishing him well.
In the evening we went to “Marry Brown” Cafe at Parkson MegaMall and after dinner we shopped for gifts for each one of my grandchildren. Nigel’s birthday present is still kept a secret because his birthday celebration is planned for today with all my family members coming over to our house for dinner.
Even though this time yet again Nigel’s mother is not with us to celebrate his BIG DAY, there is his father to cheer him up. Thank God he doesn’t feel to lonesome without having his parent together. As a grandmother, I can only be thankful that I am still able and have the opportunity to raise him from an infant until now, know his characters quite well and understand how to handle his health problems better. I ask Our Sweet Lord to continue blessing him with good health and that his childhood years be an enjoyable and memorable one.

It is never easy to get adjusted to any new environment and get acquainted with a complete group of strangers. It would usually take me sometime to make new friends especially I am very mindful of other people’s attitude. Being judgmental, I don’t easily put immediate liking to any new person even if others say they are very kind people with pleasant character. Don’t get me wrong here though. Nobody is causing any problem to me, just that I don’t tend to trust any new person that comes to my life until I truly get to know him or her.

I believe children’s thinking would be the same, especially for those who are able to differentiate between what they like and don’t like. However, for a baby as young as 12 months and below, they would normally accept whatever the situations they may be in. For them, it would be just beyond their control to say “no” to anything they don’t like and “yes” to what they might like. Now my youngest grandson falls into this category. He has to agree with anything that his parent think is best for him whether or not he agree with his little whimsical thinking!

And one other change that happened today is he has been moved from the baby-care centre to my cousin-in-law’s home! Now the reason is that he doesn’t seem to be able to adjust himself with the day-care activities and he has been falling unwell most of the time since he started his day there. We adults were thinking that it could be that he doesn’t have enough sleep hours and those other babies and young ones who are up and about would easily disturb his peaceful afternoon nap. Just you imagine how noisy that day-care centre can be the whole day through! Poor Little Sheriff! We call my CIL’s home “Curtin Nursery” all because her home is located near to Curtin University and we also joked that “Little Sheriff” will graduate faster while in university! LOL!

This afternoon just after noon, I called my DIL and asked her about how Little Sheriff is doing at his new university. She replied saying that this morning when she handed him to my CIL, he eagerly hugged her and put a wide smile on his face. He turned round and waved happily at his mother as she left them at the front door and went to work. Well, that is already good news for me, the “grandma that always worry when it comes to the welfare of her family". I know that whatever I am doing for my family is for the best of every body. So far I can say, I am doing quite well with carrying out my responsibilities.
